Species List : Northern Fulmar Fulmarus glacialis.
1 was found dead some 100 m from the shore on the West Side on 9 September 1996.
The dead bird was found by Klas Rune Johansson, author of the book "Gotska Sandön", who also took the pictures. His comments to the pictures:
Northern Fulmar (couldn't possibly be something else?) Photo 9 September 1996. Found on the West Side among low pine trees, some 100 m from the shore and 200-300 m south of the path from the Lighthouse Village. As seen on the pictures the corpse is quite old, maybe a year or so, with algae growing on it. Probably it has been covered by snow or endured a wet autumn. I still have the cranium, which I will bring to the museum on Gotska Sandön.
